Twelve-year-old Steven is determined to find the body of his uncle Billy, who disappeared eighteen years earlier and is believed to have been the victim of serial killer Arnold Avery who is in prison for murdering six other children and burying them in the moor around Steven's English village, but the boy makes a dangerous mistake when he writes Avery asking for help.
