Twelve-year-old Scirye and her companions travel to Houlani, a new Hawaiian island created by magic, where they enlist the help of volcano goddess Pele in an attempt to stop an evil dragon and a mysterious man from altering the universe.

Scirye and her loyal companions follow the villainous Mr. Roland and the evil dragon Badik from Hawaii to the city of Nova Hafnia in the Arctic Circle in order to prevent him from reaching the second of the Five Lost Treasures of Emperor Y?, which contains the power to alter the fabric of the universe.
