Clyde is a hyperactive kid, and his twin sister, Claudia, does her best to keep him out of trouble--but after a class field trip to the science museum, and a zapped banana, he suddenly finds that excitement transforms him into a real monkey, which may help him catch the thief who took the golden monkey.

Frustrating his sister with his tendency to transform into a monkey whenever he gets hyper, Clyde is given an extra-firm reason to try to control his energetic behavior when a new school principal moves into the neighborhood.

Ever since he ate a zapped banana, hyperactive second-grader Clyde turns into a monkey when he gets excited, so when his twin sister Claudia plans to take her "monkey" to the school pet show and all the animals are pet-napped, Clyde has to use his inner monkey to rescue them.
